Manages and operates UbuntuNet, the regional backbone network that interconnects National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) and connects them to other regional networks. Their mission is to secure affordable broadband and efficient ICT access and usage for African NRENs and their associated communities of practice.
The PPPC is responsible for developing guidelines on best practices to assist sector Ministries in the roll-out of their PPP projects. The PPPC works closely with the Ministry of Finance in the review and assessment of PPP project affordability, value-for-money, feasibility, and contingent liabilities associated with PPP projects.
More specifically, the PPPC provides advice and support to Contracting Authorities (CAs) in the following areas: Project Identification, Feasibility studies, Procurement process, Negotiation, Liaison with PPP Monitoring and Review Unit at MOF, Promotion and Capacity Building, Liaising to obtain financial support

MACRA now draws its mandate from the Communications Act of 2016 to regulate and monitor the provision of communications services and ensure that, as far as it is practicable, reliable and affordable communications services are provided throughout Malawi.
