1. ACCOUNTATNT
Location: Zomba
The Accountant (ACC) reports to the Finance and Administration Manager and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensure regulatory compliance and support strategic decision-making thorough timely, high-quality financial reporting.
Key Accountabilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards and MAREN policies.
- Analyze accounting records, financial statements, and management reports to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct monthly budget vs. actual performance analysis, identify significant variances, investigate root causes, and provide actionable recommendations to management.
- Support financial forecasting, scenario modeling, and strategic planning initiatives as requested
- Maintain the general ledger, including preparation of adjusting journal entries, account reconciliations, and execution of month-end and year-end close processes within defined timelines.
- Review expense claims, vendor invoices, and payment vouchers for accuracy, budget availability, and policy compliance prior to processing.
- Compute, remit and file all statutory deductions and tax returns accurately and within regulatory deadlines.
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and enforce credit control policies to minimize bad debt and improve cash collection cycles.
- Maintain a comprehensive Fixed Assets Register, including depreciation calculations, capitalization of new assets, tracking of disposals/transfers, and coordination of periodic physical asset verification exercises.
- Process and verify payroll calculations, ensure accurate and timely salary disbursements in compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.
- Review procurement requests and contracts for budget alignment and financial policy compliance in liaison with the Procurement Officer.
- Perform other relevant duties assigned by MAREN management that align with the role’s scope and organizational objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
A suitable candidate shall have:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related fields from a recognized institution. Those with professional qualifications on top of the first degree will have added advantage.
- Be a registered member and in good standing with the Malawi Accountants Board (MAB) through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM)
- Have at least 3 years’ work experience in a similar position in a busy environment
- Be able to work with minimum supervision
- Have ability to work under pressure
- Have ability to work as part of a diverse and inclusive team
- Have high degree of integrity and professionalism
Employment Term
3-year contract, renewable based on performance.
2. PERSONAL ASSISTANT (PA) TO THE CEO
Location: Zomba
The PA’s core responsibility is to ensure smooth running of the CEO’s office
Key Accountabilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for the CEO, screening phone calls, emails, and visitors; determining priority and routing communications appropriately to protect the CEO’s time and focus.
- Proactively manage and optimize the CEO’s calendar, prioritizing commitments, scheduling meetings, and ensuring adequate preparation time for high-priority activities.
- Organize business meetings and appointments for the CEO and management team, including, setting calendar, confirming venues, coordinating attendance, distributing agendas and ensuring briefs from relevant team members are received prior to the meetings.
- Coordinate interactions with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the CEO, including managing correspondence, maintaining stakeholder contact databases, tracking key meetings and commitments and taking/distributing minutes as required.
- Coordinate comprehensive travel arrangements for the CEO (flights, accommodation, ground transportation, visas) and process travel-related procurement requests in line with organizational policies.
- Maintain an efficient, confidential document filing system (electronic and physical) for the CEO’s office, ensuring easy retrieval and compliance with record-keeping policies.
- Maintain office inventory and supplies for the CEO’s office and coordinate with relevant functions for equipment maintenance and office needs in accordance with organizational policies.
- Perform other relevant duties assigned by MAREN management that align with the role’s scope and organizational objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Be a holder of at least a Degree in Business Management or related fields from a recognized institution.
- Have at least three years’ experience in a similar position.
- Be an advanced user of Microsoft Office
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Have good organizational skills
- Have capacity to work with minimal supervision.
- Have ability to work under pressure
- Have ability to work as part of a diverse and inclusive team
- Have high degree of integrity and professionalism
Employment Term
3-year contract renewable based on performance.
