The Malawi Research and Education Network (MAREN) was proud to support Youth Net and Counselling YONECO through the introduction of the Idea Hub, unveiled during a special event hosted at YONECO’s headquarters on May 24th, in preparation for International Cooperation on Helpline Day.

The event was being honoured by the presence of the Honourable Minister of Gender, Jean Muonaouza Sendeza, and the Director General of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), Mr. Daud Suleman. Their participation highlighted the vital role of collaboration in advancing innovative digital solutions for meaningful social impact.

At MAREN, we understand the essential work that YONECO does in providing helpline services, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children and youth. Recognizing their need for robust, interactive, and scalable technological tools, we identified the Idea Hub as the ideal solution, enhancing the organization’s capacity for training, communication, and outreach.

Our Network and Infrastructure Manager, Alexius Chipalamwazani , noted that YONECO engages with large and diverse communities. “With the Idea Hub, YONECO will be able to conduct trainings more effectively, streamline workflows, and elevate service delivery,” he explained.

Adding to the event’s excitement, Network Engineer Mwayi Chatsika guided YONECO ’s CEO, MacBain Mkandawire, and staff through a live demonstration of the Idea Hub Mwayi Chatsika showcased its intuitive reverse mirror control feature, allowing users to operate the system interchangeably from a phone or laptop — a major upgrade from traditional projector-based setups. The device also includes a sophisticated 4K AI-powered camera that dynamically adjusts both focus and sound for an immersive, hands-free experience. Mwayi emphasized that processes which once required multiple steps can now be executed seamlessly in just one, significantly boosting productivity.

MAREN remains committed to transforming education and research across Malawi. By integrating cutting-edge tools like the Idea Hub into mission-driven organizations such as YONECO , we are not just supporting innovation, we are actively shaping a smarter, more connected Malawi.
