We are pleased to announce that our Systems Engineer, Grace Gausi, has been selected to participate in the 2026 Emerging NREN Programme (ENP) under the Women in STEM track, an initiative organised by GÉANT, a collaboration of European National Research and Education Networks (NRENs). The programme will take place from 8–12 June 2026 in Helsinki, Finland.
The ENP is a capacity-building programme for early-career professionals from emerging National Research and Education Networks (NRENs). It includes participation in the TNC Conference, Europe’s largest research and education networking conference, alongside mentorship, collaboration, and engagement with the global NREN community.
Speaking on her motivation for applying, Grace emphasised the opportunity to strengthen both technical and strategic capacity.
“I applied to deepen my understanding of how NRENs operate at a global level and to gain insights that can directly contribute to strengthening my work at MAREN. The programme presents a valuable opportunity to engage with experts, exchange ideas, and learn from best practices globally.”
She described her selection as both an honour and an opportunity for growth.
“I feel honoured and excited to have been selected under the Women in STEM track. It is an opportunity to grow, build international connections, and gain exposure to emerging trends in the sector, such as AI governance, digital sovereignty, and sustainable network development.”
Gausi highlighted that the experience will strengthen her expertise while also benefiting MAREN as an institution.
“The knowledge, skills, and collaborations I will gain through this programme will enhance my professional capabilities and support MAREN’s capacity to improve service delivery, drive innovation, and adopt best practices. I look forward to sharing these insights with my colleagues to strengthen our work and contribute to the broader research and education community in Malawi.”
Her participation underscores MAREN’s commitment to capacity building, international collaboration, and advancing women’s participation in STEM.
