The Malawi Research and Education Network (MAREN) has provided financial support amounting to K4,150,000 to the Association of Records Managers and Archivists (ARMA) for its First National Records and Archives Conference.
The sponsorship was officially handed over on October 11, 2025, at the University of Malawi in Zomba. The conference, scheduled for November 20–21, 2025, at Kambiri Beach Resort in Salima, will bring together professionals from various sectors to discuss how technology can enhance the management of records and archives.
Speaking during the ceremony, ARMA President Alufeyo Manda expressed gratitude for MAREN’s contribution. He noted that organizing such a conference requires significant resources and appreciated MAREN for stepping forward to assist.

MAREN’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Solomon Dindi, highlighted the alignment between the conference theme and MAREN’s work. “The conference aims to leverage technology in managing records and archives, and this is something directly related to what MAREN does and supports because at MAREN, we live and speak technology,” he said.

The upcoming conference, themed “Leveraging Technologies in Managing Records and Archives,” will serve as a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, innovations, and best practices in digital information management. It also reflects MAREN’s ongoing commitment to supporting initiatives that promote digital transformation and data governance across Malawi’s education and research institutions.
The handover ceremony was attended by representatives from MAREN, ARMA, the National Records and Archives Services, and members of the media.
